If it is not compulsory then under what situation and problem can a person follow a different Jurist.If he has followed the ruling and way of one Jurist in a given situation but now wishes to follow a different Jurist such a situation is called Tafliq. Tafliq is either employed in Ijtihad or in following the latter is the topic of our discussion. التلفيق لغة: يقال: لفَقْتُ الثوبَ لَفْقاً من باب ضرب ضممتُ إحدى الشقتين إلى الأخرى واسم الشُقّة لِفْق وتلافق القوم: تلاءمت أمورهم وقال بعضهم: هو ضمّ الأشياء والأمور الملاءمة بينها؛ لتكون شيئاً واحداً أو لتسير على وتيرة واحدة.
