It encourages the passions of love, unity and brotherhood in society. That’s why Islam orders for all those things which bring brotherhood and love among people and discourages for all those things/acts which create hatred, envy, animosity and dishonor among people. Among the things/acts which cause for love and brotherhood, one is the exchange of gifts. But sometimes the gifts are used as bribe. And bribe is such an evil that it causes not only the anger of Almighty Allah but it is poisonous for cause of nation and state. When bribe spreads in a society it makes its foundations weak and sabotage the entire nation. Hence it results in cruelty, injustice, breach of law, rampage, rupture, inferiority complex, depuration and murder of merits. That is why Holy Prophet (PBUH) cursed the embracer, corrupt and their agent. Thus is necessary to critically study the Islamic education about gift and to examine the sources which cause bribe. This paper critically evaluates the importance of gift in Islam, its various forms, and when does gift turn to be bribe. |
